Today our musical hero is the British dark synth-pop band Night in Athens. Sensual vocals, the mysterious aesthetic of the night, escapism, and the nostalgic romance of dark synth-pop.The band's founder was born in Athens, Greece, moved to the United Kingdom in 2006, and now lives in London. We had a short conversation about the project, the album Wasted Reflections, and music in general.

F: How would you describe your style (musical/visual)? I’m interested to know why you present yourself in this particular aesthetic.

N: The sound lives somewhere between cold synths, late-night paranoiac repetition, and existential anxiety. Visually it's the same. The aesthetic came naturally because that's how the music feels when it's made. I never wanted the project to look "clean" or overly explained.

“Night in Athens” has a strange energy. Beautiful but unexpected. Loud but lonely. The name felt like a scene rather than a band name.
It sounds temporary — it exists for just a few hours.

F: Why did you name your project “Night in Athens”?

N: Composing, in the contemporary meaning of the word, is something I started doing in the last 10 years or so. It definitely wasn't a dream career but more like a necessary problem. I never approached it in an optimistic way anyway — maybe that's why it stayed honest?

F: Have you always wanted to pursue music?

N: Wasted Reflections is about seeing yourself too clearly at the wrong time. Or the opposite. Feelings you keep replaying until they become reflections of reflections of reflections...

F: Tell us about the album “wasted reflections”.
